Last time we were writing about how to darken hair naturally so it is only logical to write about natural ways to lighten hair also 🙂 If you want to lighten your hair without using bleach, efficient way is to go under the sun as much as you can. However, if you want faster solution, natural ways to lighten hair are in your kitchen.
Natural ways to lighten hair – Lemon
Squeeze the juice of one lemon and pour it in a bottle with a spray attachment. Add an equal amount of water. Shake well.
Spray the hair. Concentrate on those parts of the hair that you want to lighten the most. The more of this mixture is inflicted, the hair will be brighter.
Go under the sun and let the preparation works for about 30 minutes while sunbeams do their business. The longer you are under the sun, hair will be brighter. When hair is dry, you will see lightened highlights.
Wash your hair and apply conditioner or hair mask. When you dry your hair, you will notice the difference.
Tip: Lemon is drying out the hair so this method for lightening hair is good for oily and greasy hair. Avoid this recipe if your hair is dry and damaged and try another recipe that doesn’t include lemon.

Natural ways to lighten hair – Cinnamon
Cinnamon is on of the most effective natural ways to lighten hair.
Mix three teaspoons of cinnamon with four teaspoons of conditioner and massage it into the scalp.
After that, the hair should be protected with a shower cap. Leave the mixture on for four hours before rinsing.
Cinnamon can lighten hair up to three shades. This procedure can be repeated several times until you reach the desired color.
Natural ways to lighten hair – Honey
Honey contains low levels of hydrogen peroxide that lightens the hair.
Mix a teaspoon of honey with a cup of water and let it sit for half an hour.
After that add a cup of olive oil and apply on the hair. Put a shower cap. Leave on for an hour and rinse with lukewarm water.
Among these natural ways to lighten hair, honey will not have as much effect in hair lightening as much as the other listed ways so you can combine it with lemon or cinnamon.

Hello – Lemon juice is a god send if you have a colour dying disaster! I recently coloured my hair using a Loreal ash blonde. I always colour my hair myself using self hair dye products and have never had a problem. However I decided to slightly darken my hair colour and went for this ash blonde product…….thats when disaster struck!
I followed the instructions, did everything it said on the packet, long more no less. But it turned my hair grey! It had silver blue tinges and looked awful! I even tried embarrassingly going to the shop to buy my normal blonde colour to see if that helped but it did nothing, just made it look even darker.
So I frantically looked on the net, in search for something to save my hair and read form several blog posts that mixing 3/4 cup of lemon with 1/4 cup of conditioner and applying it to the hair for 2 hours works. So with nothing to lose i tried it…….
And it worked! It took all the grey colour out, and my hair was a lovely blonde colour just like before. I didn’t even have any roots and my hair felt fantastically soft! Feel like the lemon has don’t it wonders. It’s amazing how the lemon just stripped all the colour i had applied in the last 48 hours away and left it being the colour i wanted.
Lemon is a god send! I urge anyone to has a hair colour disaster to try this!
Wow great that you’ve managed to repair the hair disaster with something as simple as lemons 🙂 Good to know if it ever happens to me or someone else, thanks 🙂
